12/09/08

First things first, Bronson you asked who my new companion is and how that language is going. I have the same companion that I had last transfer Elder Bemuyal, and I almost always understand, its only about two percent of the time I don't, and I understand things passively now, at times I still need to pay lots of attention with people who didn't have much time in school, but most of the time its great. People almost always understand what I am saying, the most criticism I have heard about my language is I am too intelligent, I am using words that people don't know here, because the big words are easier for me to understand and use. But things are progressing well. There have been lots of changes in the mission, we were part of a mini zone Santa Cruz, but now we got switched to be leaders of a district of sisters in another city. So things are a little different, they had a baptism this last week and because we cant do splits with them we waste(not waste but don't have a chance to work in out area) almost a half day every time they need help. Everyone is asking about the telephone call, I have no idea, I don't know if we will be in the house of a member or with other missionaries, I asked the only American older then me on the mission what he did. He didn't know, but I will be able to make a call a week before and talk with one of you to set everything up, so peace be still. It is continuing to be very hot here, at nine thirty in the morning I think it was mid high eighties. We are doing lots of good work here, I think before I leave this area the 13th of January we should baptism ten more people, right now we have lots whose situation isn't sure but 5 for sure. In the mission the Elder that trains you is called you father, and I got to talk to my father for a few minutes last night and show off how much more Portuguese I know and talk about all the people we taught. He is our zone leader so we should be able to do some divisions with him pretty soon I am excited about that. The branch here is really starting to get into missionary work. Because of our success in the last few weeks the youth program has been reorganized and we just baptised most of the leadership for the young women. Things really are going great the last few weeks I haven't written much because I hadn't really received anything. It was great to see the pictures of the boys and Hannah and Anderson, we are going to baptise a man named Anderson and he is really excited to serve a mission. It was close too, one of the families we are going to baptise had a son this last week, too but it was the 27th, really early in the morning. So close. anyhow... have a great week Elder Simpson....I should send the pictures of all the baptisms soon, I don't know.
